Campaign Manager - Campaign Manager (Silverlight)

Days Between

Use the Days Between tool to make a selection based on a calculation of the number of days from or to a particular event, using an existing date column in the database.

For example, you could use this tool to make a selection of all customers who ordered a particular product within X days of a particular date, which may have been the date of a promotion or some significant event. A standard filter field is available to refine the selection. As with aggregates, the resulting column can be in line or permanent and accessible from the Data Explorer.

Procedure

  1. Drag the Days Between tool to the Workspace.
  2. Choose the join operator.
  3. Click the icon to the right of the New Days Between field, a new window opens.
  4. In the Display Name field enter a display name for the column. If you save the tool as a template, this name will be displayed in the Templates tab. The Display Name is also used in the Caption area if you insert the tool into a document.
  5. If you want the new column to be automatically indexed, select the Index Column check box. You should only index columns when necessary. For example, when engineered columns have > 250 discrete values, indexing can start to improve query performance.
Note: The default value for the Index Column check box is unselected. If you import a Campaign Manager document with the Index Column check box selected, the check box will revert to unselected. This is because when you import an existing engineering node, you are effectively creating a new one and the check box default of unselected is applied.
  1. If you want to make the column permanent so that it can be viewed and selected in the Data Explorer, click the Optional expand icon. In the Table Column Name field, enter the name you want to use to display the column in the Data Explorer tab.
  2. Populate the remaining 'Settings' fields:

Start Date Column: Select a date column that will provide the starting point from which to calculate. This could be an Order Date or some other anniversary.

End Date: This is the date that will provide the end point of the calculation. It can be before or after the start date column. You can choose from the following options:

  • Today’s Date: This will use the date at the moment of calculation based on the system date of the Engine server which the current Campaign Manager system is connected to. Note that this may differ from the date/time of the client machine if the Engine server is located in another time zone.
  • Specific Date: Enter a specific date manually.
  • Most Recent Date from Filtered Column: As the name implies this will use the most recent date from the selected column, for example ‘Date of last purchase’ or ‘Last product ordered’.

Filter Segment: This applies a filter to the selected column.
