ODBC importer

To run an ODBC import, click the Connection Information browser button to display the ODBC Import Wizard screen.

To connect to the data source, click the browse button and enter the relevant values in the Connection String screen.

DSN

Select from one of the data sources in the drop-down list.

Note:

The DSN's listed are those that exist in the server context (the machine hosting Engine).

UID

Enter the user ID.

Password

Enter the password.

Database

Enter the database name.

Driver

Select a driver from the drop-down list. This is only activated when you select None in the DSN field.

Server

Enter the server name.

Click OK to enter the connection details in the ODBC Import Wizard screen.

Data may be selected from a particular table using an SQL query or from the Table Import drop-down list. Click on the Refresh button before selecting a table from the drop-down list.

Query Timeout

This allows you to set a time limit on how long a query can take before being abandoned.

Rowset size

This indicates how many rows are fetched in each round trip to the data source. It may be possible to optimize access to data sources located across the network by using this setting to minimize network round-trips. If no value is specified the default is 25 rows.

Clicking OK populates the fields of the Import Wizard with data. Clicking the Generate button from the Import Wizard screen enters the script details in the Control file.
