Configuration

The following section details Engine's configuration settings. These settings are set in the CERBERUS.INI file (default location Alterian\Projectbase\[ProjectName]\Config\Engine)

Configuration settings can be modified using the Engine Configuration applet in the Management Console.

Settings are divided into four categories:

  • Public settings are available by default, are fully documented and can be used by partners and customers. These settings have no prefix.
  • Private settings are for Alterian use only and are prefixed with 'Pvt_'
  • Optimization settings should only be used under the direction of Alterian, and are prefixed with 'Opt_'
  • Diagnostic settings should only be used under the direction of Alterian, and are prefixed with 'Dgn_'

Configuration settings can be modified by using the Engine Configuration Screen of the Engine Administration Utility.

If a call is made to Engine for a Cerberus setting which either does not exist or is mis-spelt, the Engine code will now return an error in the Cerlog. The error message will look something like the following:

INFORMATION SYSTEM Cannot set invalid Configuration setting 'Dgn_ImmediateDelete'.

Note: Changing the default configuration settings can have an adverse effect on Engine if not carried out correctly. If there is any uncertainty about possible consequences of changing a setting, please consult with Alterian Support before making the change.
