Campaign Manager - Campaign Manager (Silverlight)

Global Variables

Variables are data items which do not have a fixed value. Variables are used to dynamically define attributes for recipients as they pass through an engagement cycle, for example a treatment code or an engagement score. The values are derived from a fixed pool of values, or extracted from a database column.

Consideration should be given to creating a set of Global Variables with known names for defined uses, for example 'Marketing Code', 'Key Code' and 'Salutation Type'. For optimal ease of use and performance considerations it is important to have a clear set of Global Variables for the Marketers to interact with. Global Variables can only be created from the Variables tab in Variable Manager.

In Campaign Manage, you can use variables in Cells, to segment recipients using tools like Check Variable, and as a Trigger to generate events. Global variables are available for use in any campaign.

In Campaign Designer, the Set Variable element allows Variables values to be set for recipients in the campaign flow.

Note:

If you wish to report on variables using Engine then the variable names will have to adhere to standard naming conventions for Engine columns. Once a variable has been included in a snapshot then it cannot be renamed, as this will compromise history storage.

Variables created here can be used in both Campaign Manager and Campaign Designer user interfaces.
